San Manuel Band of Mission Indians Education Symposium
November 8th, 2011: Notah heads to southern California this weekend to be a part of the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians Education Symposium that focuses on language, health & nutrition, and financial management. The San Manual Band of Mission Indians have been one of Notah's biggest supporters throughout his career and Notah is often asked about the San Manuel golf bag that he proudly has been carrying on the PGA TOUR for the past few years. The only problem, according to Begay, is that he does not have a short answer to describe San Manuel's ever growing community outreach efforts.
"San Manuel is involved with so many incredible causes both in Southern California and beyond that the question is hard to answer sometimes," said a smiling Begay. "First of all, San Manuel has extended a hand to Native American tribes all over the country that have needed assistance. And then you look at the tribe's involvement in southern California. It is truly incredible. San Manuel has assumed a true leadership position as far as supporting community-related causes in both Highland and the entire Inland Empire for that matter. Loma Linda University, the American Red Cross, Sherman Indian High School….the list goes on and on with organizations that San Manuel has supported. In a time when the country is in a recession and funds for social, educational, and cultural development are the first to disappear, San Manuel has assumed a forward thinking role and absolutely stepped up."
