Notah Tied for 5th in Portugal - Friday, March 23, 2007

MADEIRA, Portugal -- After a 1-under-par 2nd round, Notah Begay III finds himself tied for fifth place at the Madeira Islands Open BPI, which is very good considering how his back has preformed in cold, rainy weather in past events.

"In the past, I've experienced some tightness in my lower spine when the weather turned cold but have been able to remain loose and steady here on Madeira Island," Notah said of the back injury that has caused him problems in previous seasons. "Headed to the weekend I will try to minimize my bogeys and remain confident in my preparation."

In only his fifth event of the 2007 European Tour season, Notah has continued to work his game back into form.

"In spite of only playing four events through the first three months of the season my game is progressing steadily," Notah said. "Twelve birdies over the first two days is a clear indication that my putter is working and the rest of my game is solid. I've endured the cold and rain over the first two days and my back held up very nicely."
