Plus 1 Day 1 for Notah in Italy - Thursday, May 03, 2007
MILAN, Italy -- Two steps forward, then three steps back.
It was one of those days for Notah Begay III on Thursday in the first round of the Telecom Italia Open, where the 4-time U.S. PGA Tour winner finished the day at 1-over par, tied for 107th place.
After a bogey on his second hole, birdies on Nos. 9 and 10 moved Notah up the leaderboard, however, a bogey and double bogey on holes 13 and 14, respectively, dropped him back down. A final birdie on 17 finished out his scoring and Notah turned in a 73.
The top 70 players, plus ties, will make the cut and play this weekend, so Notah will need to make up a couple shots in Friday's second round to successfully make his fifth cut of the 2007 European Tour season.
Notah, along with playing partners Carl Suneson (Las Palmas, Gran Canaria, Spain) and François Delamontagne (Paris, France), is scheduled to tee off at 1:30 pm local time on Friday.
Be sure to check back with Notah.com to follow NB3 in his quest to earn a fifth Tour victory.
