Nice start for Notah in Spain - Thursday, May 10, 2007
| MARBELLA, Spain -- Notah Begay III enjoyed a solid start to the Valle Romano Open de Andalucia, posting a 1-under-par 71 at the Aloha Golf Club, good enough for a tie for 42nd place after one round. "It's nice to say that I got things off to a nice start in the Open de Andalucia," Notah said on Thursday. "Thankfully, my back and right leg cooperated allowing me to put together some nice shots and a fairly steady round. All parts of my game were solid and the course has proven to be a very nice test. It's a must to put the ball in the fairway in order to produce birdie opportunities." The Stanford alumnus did not experience the pain that forced last week's withdrawal from the Italia Open after one round. "My entire team of Mark Freeland, Chris Frankel and Gio Valiente have done a great job of keeping me motivated," Notah said. "Sports injuries take a toll on both the body and the mind but with the help of my support network I know that I can work through this phase. I have a late start tomorrow so my wife and I will take in a nice late 'Andalucian' dinner and be rested for tomorrow's round."
