Memorial Day with Notah - Monday, May 28, 2007

BERNALILLO, N.M. -- Two weeks ago, *sciatica in his leg forced Notah Begay III to withdraw from the Irish Open and return to his New Mexico home.

"In spite of my most recent injury, I'm going to spend this Memorial Day thinking about those that have paved the way for me," Notah said on Monday. "My family has always been a source of inspiration for me and every year I pay my respects to the grandparents and great grandparents."

Notah continued, "In the past couple of years I've also lost some relatives who passed on before their time due to heart-related complications. My cousins Alfred Montoya and Albert Quiver both suffered massive heart attacks before the age of 50. It is at this time I would like to remember them for their contributions to family and community.

"Losing family members at such a young age reinforces my commitment to the health-based initiatives at the NB3 Foundation. Our soccer program and health awareness programming is aimed at preventing tragedies like heart failure and diabetes. On this Memorial Day we remember those that have come before us and how we can learn from their experiences."

* - Sciatica is a symptom of a problem at some point along the sciatic nerve rather than an ailment in and of itself. A herniated disc in the back, spinal stenosis and piriformis syndrome are medical disorders that can cause sciatica. (Sciatica.org)

As some of you may know, I have a golf course design consulting firm called NB3 Consulting.  I started NB3 Consulting in 2002 because I wanted to work with Native American tribes on golf course development projects.  My goal, as always, is to bring the best team possible to the table and to keep the interests of the community first.  We just launched the NB3 Consulting website,
www.nb3consulting.com and I encourage you to spend some time on it if you have the chance. NB3
