Notah on target at Congressional - Friday, July 06, 2007
| BETHESDA, Md. -- Over the first two rounds at the Congressional Country Club, Notah Begay III hit 75-percent of his fairways and greens, which ranks among the leaders at this week's event. Currently tied for 48th place in the 120-player field, Notah made his first PGA Tour cut since last October's Southern Farm Bureau Classic and has made two of his last three. "The best thing about my first two rounds this week was my tee-to-green game," Notah said after his 2nd round on Friday at the AT&T National. "I continued to hit fairways and that's even more rewarding this week at Congressional due to the heavy rough and difficult pin placements. Playing out of the rough this week can make it almost impossible to access some of the pins. "I'm certainly pleased with the progress of my iron game this week and it's definitely an improvement from my performance at the Traveler's Championship. I'm very happy becaue in spite of my back difficulties my game has been improving for the last three weeks which is a good sign. A few more birdies and I can really put some good rounds together. "I would like to carry the momentum into the weekend and work on my patience and course management. I'm learning new things every day on this course and that's great considering that the U.S. Open will be here in 2011. But that's far off for now so in the meantime I'll just work on trying to break par over the weekend." Notah will tee off at 9:55 am in Saturday's third round with Briny Baird of Florida.
