RENO, Nev. -- Notah Begay III traveled to this week's Reno-Tahoe Open with more than just golf on his mind and without one of his biggest fans - his wife, Apryl.
"I'm flying solo this week," Notah said. "My wife and I just purchased a house in the downtown Dallas area in an effort to make our travel on the U.S. and European tours a bit easier. We plan to move in over the next month and my wife is finalizing the details."
While Apryl is putting the finishing touches on their new real estate purchase, Notah will attempt to win his second Reno-Tahoe Open...among other activities.
"Let's just say that with the Del Mar and Saratoga horse racing seasons getting under way recently, I may find my way into the local sports book to try my luck," Notah said. "I love the sport of horse racing and even owned a thoroughbred in the recent past. I still follow the sport and particularly enjoy Del Mar and Saratoga."
After finishing this week's rounds at the beautiful Montrêux Golf and Country Club, Notah will also look to enjoy the nearby lake experience.
"I'm very familiar with the Reno/Tahoe area and always find the Lake to be one of the most fascinating things about the area," Notah said. "Every year, I try to have dinner in South Lake Tahoe just to get away and enjoy the nice weather."
Notah is scheduled to tee off at 7:55 am local time (PT) with J.P. Hayes and Willie Wood in Thursday's first round.

As some of you may know, I have a golf course design consulting firm called NB3 Consulting. I started NB3 Consulting in 2002 because I wanted to work with Native American tribes on golf course development projects. My goal, as always, is to bring the best team possible to the table and to keep the interests of the community first. We just launched the NB3 Consulting website,
www.nb3consulting.com and I encourage you to spend some time on it if you have the chance.
