PGA Tour veterans to compete in skins game - Saturday, August 23, 2008

VERONA — The four-time PGA tour winner Notah Begay III will be hosting the inaugural Notah Begay III Foundation Challenge on Tuesday at the Atunyote Golf Club.

The skins golf tournament will include Begay along with PGA Tour players Stewart Cink, Vijay Singh, Mike Weir and Camilo Villegas.

The Notah Begay III Golf Clinic will also be held on Monday at 11 a.m., when Begay and some of the PGA Tour players will provide tips and recommendations for nailing down a professional golf swing.

Proceeds for the tournament will benefit the funding and awareness for improved health and wellness of Native American youth.

The skins exhibition game was brought to the Oneida Indian Nation through the Notah Begay III Foundation, which was created in 2005 with the mission of delivering sustainable, health and wellness youth soccer and golf programs in Native American communities.

The game will also be the first national event put on by the foundation and is sponsored by the Oneida Indian Nation and San Manuel Band of Serrano Mission Indians.

Tickets are $35 for the skins tournament and are still available at the Turning Stone box office or through Ticketmaster.

Gates will open to guests at 10 a.m., with the event starting at 11.

As some of you may know, I have a golf course design consulting firm called NB3 Consulting.  I started NB3 Consulting in 2002 because I wanted to work with Native American tribes on golf course development projects.  My goal, as always, is to bring the best team possible to the table and to keep the interests of the community first.  We just launched the NB3 Consulting website,
www.nb3consulting.com and I encourage you to spend some time on it if you have the chance. NB3
