Begay in position for the weekend - Saturday, April 22, 2006

A couple of Tiger Woods' old Stanford teammates had plans for dinner on Friday night after their second rounds.

Notah Begay III had reason to be in a better mood than Casey Martin, who was playing on a sponsor's exemption. Begay, who was one shot out of making the cut last week on the PGA event in Hilton Head, S.C., fired a 66 on Friday. Martin missed the cut after shooting a second-round 77 to finish 4 over.

Begay, a four-time PGA Tour winner, played 11 events on the PGA Tour last season and four on the Nationwide but did not get a top-25 finish. He has been bothered in recent years by back pain.

"I know when I'm playing well, and I'm healthy, I have world-class ability," Begay said. "I just want to kind of bring those along right now and this is a great place for it."

As some of you may know, I have a golf course design consulting firm called NB3 Consulting.  I started NB3 Consulting in 2002 because I wanted to work with Native American tribes on golf course development projects.  My goal, as always, is to bring the best team possible to the table and to keep the interests of the community first.  We just launched the NB3 Consulting website,
www.nb3consulting.com and I encourage you to spend some time on it if you have the chance. NB3
