Begay Remembers Magic 59 - Sunday, May 14, 2006
A switch-putting Native American who was a college teammate of Tiger Woods captured the attention of the golf world during the Nationwide Tour's Richmond stop eight years ago.
Notah Begay III placed his name in the record book when he became the first Nationwide Tour golfer to shoot 59 in a tournament. He posted the magical number (13 under par) at The Dominion Club in the second round of the 1998 Dominion Open.
Begay, 33, returns to The Dominion Club this week for the first time since then for the tournament now known as the Henrico County Open. The 14th edition of the Richmond stop runs Thursday through Sunday.
