PREVIEW: The Rex Hospital Open - Saturday, May 13, 2006

RALEIGH, N.C. - Notah Begay III heads to Tobacco Road this week for The Rex Hospital Open, held at the Tournament Players Club at Wakefield Plantation in Raleigh, N.C. The Albuquerque native will tee-off in Thursday's first round riding a streak of six consecutive cuts made on the Nationwide Tour.

The TPC course was designed by three-time U.S. Open champion Hale Irwin and should provide this week's field with quite a challenge. Former University of New Mexico golfer D.J. Brigman will also take on the TPC at Wakefield Plantation in hopes of his second Nationwide Tour victory.

This week marks Notah's 47th professional event at a TPC course, earning five Top 10's and a pair of victories - the 2000 FedEx St. Jude Classic at the TPC at Southwind (Memphis) and the 2000 Canon Greater Hartford Open at the TPC at River Highlands.

Notah will play the first two rounds with partners Boyd Summerhays, nephew of Champions Tour player Bruce Summerhays, and New Zealander Tim Wilkinson. The trio will hit the tee box at 12:25 pm for Thursday's first round.
