PREVIEW: John Deere Classic - Tuesday, July 11, 2006

SILVIS, Ill. -- For the third consecutive week, Notah Begay III will tee-off on the PGA Tour and this week's stop is the John Deere Classic, an event where the Albuquerque native earned a pair of Top 10 finishes in 2002 and '03.

"With my game on the rise I'm very excited to tee it up at the John Deere Classic this week," Notah said. “I love the course and look to keep my streak of good play going."

Notah finished in a tie for 9th place at the Buick Championship two weeks ago, his best finish on Tour since the 2004 B.C. Open. Last week in Chicago, he missed the cut at the Western Open by one shot.

"I haven't really had much success at Cog Hill GC over the years and this year wasn't any different," Notah said of the host course for the Western Open. "A couple of 3-putts in the first two days kept me out of the weekend but overall the game held up very nicely. I still hit quite a few fairways and greens but just couldn't get the putts to drop."

With a short drive from Chicago to Silvis, Notah plans to use the extra time this week to get in a little more practice.

"I have some things to tweak," Notah said, "and this is a great week to address those aspects of my game."
