Notah Shoots 3-under in Spain - Wednesday, November 01, 2006

ROTA, Spain -- Referred to as "a real-life Native American" by an English media outlet covering the European Tour Q-school, Notah Begay III began his quest to earn his exemption to the 2006-07 Tour with a 3-under 69.

"It was a solid round only blemished by a 3-putt on the par-5 8th hole," Notah said Wednesday. "I drove the ball well and if that continues I will have a lot of good birdie putts and hopefully can put together a low round."

Notah is playing the Second Qualifying Stage at the Costa Ballena Club de Golf, a course designed by José Maria Olazábal. Notah, who is currently tied for 21st among 83 players at his venue, tees off at 9:10 am local time for Thursday's second round.

Spread out among four locations throughout Spain this week, there are 328 players vying for 79 places in next week's Final Qualifying Stage. The top 32 from the from the Final Stage earn full exemptions into this coming season's European Tour events.

As some of you may know, I have a golf course design consulting firm called NB3 Consulting.  I started NB3 Consulting in 2002 because I wanted to work with Native American tribes on golf course development projects.  My goal, as always, is to bring the best team possible to the table and to keep the interests of the community first.  We just launched the NB3 Consulting website,
www.nb3consulting.com and I encourage you to spend some time on it if you have the chance. NB3
