1 Step Back in Spain - Friday, November 03, 2006

ROTA, Spain -- After posting a 7-under combined score through the first two rounds of the European Tour Qualifying School, Notah Begay III took one step back in Friday's third round with a 1-over 73 on the Costa Ballena Club de Golf course.

"Today's round was a disappointment in a variety of ways," Notah said Friday. "I had some chances to get it together but couldn't come through."

The top 20 at Costa Ballena Club de Golf will advance into next week's Final Stage. After three rounds, Notah is in a tie for 36th place, so he will be looking to turn in one of this season's better rounds to make the cut.

"I was hoping to be in better position heading into the final round but it wasn't in the cards," Notah said. "It's going to take a major effort to advance to the final stage but there's nothing to lose. I plan to play aggressive and with fire!"

Notah, who is paired with fellow American Nick L. Jones, will tee off at 9 am local time in Saturday's final round.
