Notah moves up to 11th place - Sunday, November 12, 2006

SAN ROQUE, Spain -- Neither the wind nor the rain could keep his low numbers off the board as Notah Begay III posted the third-best score of the day.

"I had one of my most solid rounds of the year," Notah said after his 2nd round on Saturday at the Final Stage of the European Tour Qualifying School. "With the exception of a bogey on the par-5 2nd hole, my game was steady and true all day."

Also steady was the wind and the rain at the San Roque Club in southern Spain, as the tournament has been drenched over the first few days but the skies appear to be clearing for the final rounds.

"The (tough) conditions were very similar to those of Thursday and I managed to post five birdies along with two bogeys for a 3-under 69," Notah said. "With the other half of the field scheduled to play on Sunday it puts me in great position for the final four rounds."

Notah, the lone American to qualify for the Final Stage, moved up from 28th to 11th place with his low second round. Spain's Carlos Rodiles leads the field with a 10-under total score, where Notah is a few shots back at 3-under for the event, which lasts for six rounds (108 holes).

"The 108 format is a very difficult test but when it's spread out over eight days it makes it even harder," Notah said. "After a great round like (Saturday) you would like to take that momentum into (Sunday) but I'll have to wait until Monday before I can tee it up again. Patience and consistency will be key components for those players seeking to gain status."

The top 30 finishers, plus ties, will all earn playing status onto the European Tour. Notah is set to tee off at 10:10 am local time on Monday for his third round.
