Cut made at Abu Dhabi - Friday, January 19, 2007

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates -- In his first European Tour event of the season, Notah Begay III made the cut. His 1-under-par score placed Notah in a tie for 59th place at the Abu Dhabi Golf Championship. "Heading into the week I wasn't sure what to expect," Notah said on Friday. "I had a great week of practice leading up to the event but still felt rusty in some areas. But walking off the 18th green today having put together two solid rounds gave me some distinct optimism." Notah followed an opening-round, even-par 72 on Thursday with a 1-under 71 to end the week, just good enough to make the cut in his first attempt of the 2007 season. "Of course I gave some shots away over the first two days," Notah said, "but having not played in a tournament for over two months, that's understandable. I look forward to my weekend rounds and getting to meet more people from the beautiful U.A.E." The 4-time winner on the US PGA Tour will tee off with Saturday's first group at 7:55 am local time (GMT+4), 9 hours ahead of the U.S. Eastern Time Zone. He is paired with Alejandro Cañizares of Spain and England's Ian Garbutt for the 3rd round. Be sure to check back with Notah.com to follow NB3 in his quest to earn his fifth Tour victory.
