First NB3 Coaches Clinic

On Thursday June 3, 2010, The Notah Begay III Foundation Soccer Program celebrated its first steps toward expansion by conducting our first Coaches Clinic in Jemez Pueblo for The NB3 Foundation Walatowa Soccer Club.

It was a warm sunny day, but nothing could make the NB3 Director of Soccer, Damon Lucero, and the NB3 Soccer Coordinator, Clint Begay, happier than the 18 new soccer coaches who showed up for the first ever NB3 Soccer Coaches Clinic. Of the 18 in attendance, 12 coaches were part of the Walatowa Youth Center staff who will be organizing activities for the Native Youth ofJemez Pueblo throughout the summer. There were also 6 local parent volunteerswho joined us for the fun!

The NB3 Soccer Staff conducted this training in order tohelp the Walatowa Youth Center conduct more soccer activities for the kids inorder to keep them more active over a longer period of time. This will in turn help the staff with the organization of there days to come this summer and help them have a bigger impact on the health of the Native Youth they serve.

We are proud to announce that Martina Sandoval and Adrianna Ortiz from the NB3 San Felipe Soccer Club participated in the Coaches Clinic. These players have been apart of the NB3 Soccer Program for the past 5 years and have demonstrated a high commitment level to the NB3 San Felipe Soccer Cluband their team. Both of these young ladies also help coach a U5 soccer team for the NB3 San Felipe Soccer Club as well. The dedication of these teammates has earned them the opportunity to travel with the NB3 Soccer Staff to help promote soccer and health and wellness on our mission to expand into Jemez. They "wowed" the coaches of Jemez with their soccer dribbling skills and their knowledge of the activities covered during the Coaches Clinic. Their participation and ability to demonstrate the activities gave the Coaches of Jemez a clear picture of the games and their purpose.

The NB3 Foundation is very excited of the turnout this past week and looks forward to the future player and Coaches Clinics in Jemez Pueblo!
